Dan Ball, Watercress Line, Alton

We had a lovely morning listening to Dan tell us all about the Watercress Line and the trains and people that kept the train line going. We listened to a video showing these people and the help the women gave during the war years. Dan brought with him small containers of smells to remind us of the trains, the station and other things you might have smelt. He also brought along with him some hats, the flags the Porter would have waved to warn people to get out of the way of the oncoming train and the number plates from several trains. There was lots of chat and laughter. We are looking forward to Dan coming back to us in September to talk more about the woman who volunteered to help during the war years.
