Who Are We?
CHAT2US Trustees'
CHAT2US Volunteers come from all walks of life, and they come to us because they enjoy meeting people and care about their lives.
Jeanette is our Project Manager, and at present Treasurer, too! She is also the main lady if you have problems filling in forms, especially for disability benefits. Jeanette has a secretarial background and worked at Royal Hospital Haslar and Queen Alexandra Hospital. She has gone through a few problems in her life so is just the lady when you need to solve a problem.
Our Second in Charge is Leslie, she is an ex-social worker who worked with vulnerable and elderly adults. Leslie is very important in our group. An active lady who loves to keep fit who recently had a fall that set her back a bit. Now getting back to her usual self she is a keen swimmer, walker and Litterpicker, which she does during her early morning walks with her friend and neighbour. Leslie is avid about the work we do, so, if you would like to find out more please get in touch, she would love to meet you.
Su is our Autism Ambassador and is there to give us the help we need when speaking to anyone with an autism trait.
Having a form of autism, she reminds us that everyone of us is different, and can be mildly or more severely affected by autism. She has trained doctors and nurses at local hospitals on how to care for people with all forms of autism; from going into hospital which can be so difficult for a lot of people but more so if you are on the autism spectrum, to moving home.
Emma is our newest recruit helping us through the NHS Volunteer release scheme. So, keeping her present job with the NHS but also helping us. Working with the Mental Health Team she is sure to be an asset with our team at CHAT2us.
Our Volunteers
We are very lucky to receive Volunteers who have been directed to us from Gosport Voluntary Action and other groups in the area. People who have seen one of our leaflets and thought "I'd love to do that!" I must say we have had some very lovely people stay with us, some just for a few months and some for years all who have made a big impression on the group with their knowledge and lovely smiles.
We are now June 2024 and I would like to say a big thank you to them all and to Leslie (our Trustee/Voluneer), Ginny, Wendy, Sandy, Diane and Kitty who are Volunteering with us now and Su our Trustee/Autism Ambassador.
