About the Event
Jane Glennie gave us such an insightful and enjoyable talk on the history of tea that we just couldn't wait to have her back again! So today she will be joining us to tell us more about Florence Nightingale and what she accomplished during her lifetime.. During the Crimean War ,1853-1856, she was the founder of modern nursing, in which she organised care for wounded soldiers at Constantinople. She significantly reduced death rates by improving hygiene and living standards. Nightingale gave nursing a favourable reputation and became an icon of Victorian culture, especially in the persona of "The Lady with the Lamp" making rounds of wounded soldiers at night.[ She was also famous for other things which we may be told about. We look forward to you joining us.
